Leigh Armitage writes character-driven stories often featuring strong female protagonists. Her debut novel, Emerald and the Wand is one such story. Here she blends mystery, history, and friendship to explore how Emerald, a fledgling witch, must learn that she needs courage and loyalty – and help -- as much as magic to overcome an evil and corrupt power. Leigh’s short stories have been published in several collections, including a crime/horror fiction.

She writes in various genres including a children’s audio book (to be released Autumn 2026),

a contemporary adult romance, and she is working on the next two instalments of the

Emerald trilogy.

Leigh hails from Reading, England and has made her home in London, Canada for many years, living a life peculiar only in its ordinariness – with cats and children and Norman. Oddly, part of the inspiration for Emerald was the enduring appeal of stories in which ordinary young people discover extraordinary destinies, where even an ordinary park in a quiet English village may become the gateway to a world of ancient magic.
